Down here where we come from, folks go nuts when football season arrives! Raving lunatics! You're either a Bama fan or an Auburn fan (booooooo!!!!! See what I mean? Total raving lunatics! heeheehee!) So one year I decided to paint a mural for my husband's birthday down in his "man-cave" thinking that no one would actually notice it down there..... except I didn't realize that he would be taking guided tours to all who enter and some who haven't actually entered but are dragged in by an raving loonie yelling "ROLL TIDE ROLL!!! No lie, the man had the mail lady inside "touring" when I went to check the clothes in the adjoining laundry room! Oh well,I guess this was actually one gift that he liked! (at least he's unable to exchange it like he usually does when I try to get him some fishing stuff for a gift!)
So.....ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!!!!!!!!! Here is 10 feet by 40 feet of the greatest coach of all time....Coach Paul Bear Bryant checking out "THE NEW RECRUITS!"
So now I have been busy painting some furniture for his room. More Bama glory! hahahaha!
Here is one end table that I painted and decopaged with images that I cut from magazines.
(need to add the hardware on this one)
This was a ceramic elephant that had been out in the yard for years so the finish was cracking and peeling. I wrapped it in plaster bandages (like the kind for a broken bone) and painted my version of a Mckenzie Child table. The base is a concrete pedestal from the yard and the top is off an old table that I found for $7 at the flea market.
I reupholstered an old desk chair with a $2 shirt that I got at a yard sale. It's some kind of very thick fabric so it worked out great! The elephant (below) is painted on the top of a bar table that I got at the flea market for $15.
The elephant profile is painted on a circle of plywood and hung on the wall. I also paint these for the door.
And so last of all here's the door plaque that I made.
ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!!
